ApexLove Apex High School continues its fast ascent into relevance with "Finding Yourself". The tidy arrangements are cunningly designed to display the control of imagination. It's a strategy of focus. That strategy is way cool: the lip dub is ostensibly inspired by indie culture, which therefore constitutes the valid use of the selection of music. Opening scene is emblematic of the state of the extreme high creativity the school possesses: an excellent choice is applicable music and choreography, a deadly combination enhanced toward the end by an honest burst of tribal joviality. When the well organized arrangements stand firm, the abundant substance of the video is thoughtfully revealed, e.g. in terribly crucial scenes like knitted outfits and walking through cardboard cut outs. Where they found the genius to create such an awesome video remains a mystery! The sincere exuberance of the video is a major enhancement throughout the video. The worst one can say is that this video is a colorful feast. But one can't help wonder what they will come up with next year!

Archaea Congratulations Apex, I truly enjoyed “Big Fun Finding Yourself”. I think the music choice (Animal Collective’s “Derek”, a bittersweet love song written to a new-born child) was an inspired, if not risky, choice. Its relative obscurity may have some people scratching their heads (I’m looking at you Scaruffi), but using something more “poppy” for the sake of accessibility would dull the overall effect. The choreography is an adept allegory to timeless theme of “finding yourself”. The viewer is invited to follow the ontogeny of our protagonist, from the moment of parturition, through the twists and turns of maturation. While some may find the ending saccharine, (does happily ever after exist?) I’d like to think that our hero has found, at least for the instant, peace. Well done.

Scaruffi Apex Highschool continued its slow descent into irrelevance with "Finding Yourself". The cluttered arrangements are cunningly designed to hide the lack of imagination. It's a strategy of distraction. That strategy is wrapped a concept of sort: the lip dub is ostensibly inspired by indie culture, which therefore constitutes the primal trick used in the selection of music. Opening scene is emblematic of the state of the creativity the school possess: a poor choice is applicable music and choreography, a deadly combination salvaged towards the end by an honest burst of tribal joviality. When the chaotic arrangements relent, the scarce substance of the video is mercilessly revealed, e.g. in terribly trivial scenes like knitted outfits and walking through cardboard cut outs. Where they found the guts to insert moments (let's not call them "dissarray") will remain a mystery. The faked exuberance of the video is a major drawback even on the few moments. The best one can say is that this video is a colorful feast. But one can't help wonder whether this wasn't simply meant as a joke on us.

sepultra this is the only video of all the schools that stands out and is unique and notable. it's refreshing to see something different and creative other than a bunch of kids just standing/walking down a hall. awesome job!
